TO OUR LIVERS: WE’RE SORRY

DTC Disease Education

Our livers are amazing. They perform over 500 vital functions for our bodies but we don’t give them a moment’s notice. On top of that, we treat them like crap, bombarding them with all kinds of unhealthy food choices.
We need to make it up to them. That’s why we’re creating the National Liver Day of Apology. It’s our chance o say, “I’m sorry, Liver, I done you wrong.”

ONLINE APOLOGIES
We’ll get influencers on social media to create heartfelt apology videos to the unloved organ. They’ll express their remorse through poetry, art and music. It’s all communicated through a wide range of tonality -- some humorous, some with straight-forward honesty and others touching and poignant.

THE REPENTANCE SCREENING
As an final act of contrition, we’ll encourage people to get screenings at mobile screening vans.

LISTEN TO THE DOCTORS

DTC Disease Education

All we need to do is get people to go to the doctor and get screened for NASH. Simple, right? Well it’s not so easy when the most at-risk communities are the least likely to see a doctor. At least not your typical doctor. But what if we give them the option to go to a doctor they’d be super-stoked to visit?

Turns out that a bunch of celebrities and sports stars have received honorary doctorates from various universities, making them officially doctors. Maybe not doctors of medicine, but hey, if we can get people excited about getting screened, why quibble over semantics?

CELEBRITY VIDEOS
We’ll introduce the idea with videos from various celebrity doctors posted online. They’ll educate us about the dangers of NASH in their own unique ways. For instance, a dramatically serious “Dr.” William Ferrell will use medical terms that he makes up, then he gets flustered and over-explains how he’s actually a doctor. Not before teaching us some real information about NASH.

CELEBRITY SCREENING VAN
An ordinary-looking Mobile Screening van pulls up on a city street. Dr. Taylor Swift steps out wearing a white medical jacket, to the amazement of onlookers. She persuades fans to get screened without too much arm-twisting. Her interactions with her patients become online content.

Social posts from the celebrity doctors urging screenings will continue the conversation. Maybe a few MDs (Matt Damon?) will add their opinions as well.
